About Ate-u-Tiv

“Ate-u-Tiv” is the first  online forum for the Tiv speaking and writing people in Nigeria and around the world

Ate-u-Tiv is a free blog for people who can read and write in Tiv language (Nigeria). It is fashioned after the traditional “Ate” (round, open hut) which serves as a reception point for “vanya” (guests) and allows “mbamaren, onev man wangbianev” (family members) to “tema imionge” (chat), sharing ideas and telling stories. The “Orya” (family head) receives guests and attend to family issues (discussions) from the “Ate”.

Ate-u-Tiv’s aim is not only to promote social interaction but to also make factual information about the Tiv people freely available.

The Ate-u-Tiv network is administered by a select group of ambassadors located in various states across Nigeria and abroad.
